enVision needs and welcomes volunteers to work alongside staff in supporting people with disabilities. Volunteers provide opportunities for more community participation, additional "in house" activitiy and friendship. Volunteers truly make "community living" real.
Volunteers provide a sense of belonging for many participants. Having friends in the community to go out with and share activities gives richness and meaning both to the person with a disability and the volunteer friend.
Volunteers are also warmly received by the people living in an enVision residence. Activities can include reading, playing games and visiting.
Volunteers assist staff in supporting people attending recreational events, church, sporting events, shopping, etc., all of which optimize community involvement and inclusion for people with disabilities.
Sometimes a person we are supporting in a community job needs help with transportation. A quick ride in the morning or evening makes it possible for the person to get and keep a meaningful job.
A volunteer might also serve as a mentor, helping a person to successfully work through job related issues and concerns.
The Gift of Music
Participants at our Retirement Program and at the Martha P. Rempel Centre love to welcome guests who share their gift of music.
Each fall enVision's door to door canvassing campaign brings in critically needed revenue to enhance the basic services funded by the government. Canvassing volunteers, each giving a few hours of their time are key to making this campaign a success.
Volunteers can also assist in staff training, public education or other fundraising events by helping with mailings, event set up/clean up or food service.
These are only a few of the many ways in which volunteers are involved. Call to explore your volunteering interests! We'll be glad to discuss how your service interest can match an opportunity at enVision.
